super bowl food
« on: January 25, 2006, 07:09:25 PM »
Help me out.  I'm from Alabama; been pulling for Seahawks this year.

For more years than I can remember, I have a tradition for the Super Bowl.  At halftime I serve food indigenous to the cities of the teams playing.  For example, Buffalo -- wings, obviously; San Francisco -- clam chowder and sourdough bread; Atlanta -- peach pie; Miami -- black beans and rice; Green Bay -- cheese....you get the idea.

What should I serve that would be indigenous to Seattle?  What food represents Seattle?

Oh yeah, go Seahawks!

Excellent!  I want to go to your super bowl party.. much more personal than the typical chips, salsa, pizza, beer, etc.  Glad to see people outside of Seattle rooting for us as well.  Seems like most people are on the Steelers bandwagon, especially when you get away from the west coast.  My suggestions for you would be salmon and dungeness crab.  Maybe use some Washington apples for a dessert pie?  And coffee, of course. :)

Yes I too think something seafood would be appropriate.  How about smoked salmon or dungeness crab cakes or dip?

The question I have is - what will you be serving to represent the "Stillers"   ;D

Thanks for your help.  Salmon dip it is.  While, we have blue crab indigenous to this area, I'm not sure I can locate the crab you are listing.  Coffee, of course.

Shaun Alexander is from Alabama (though I went to the other school -- Auburn, War Eagle!).  Shaun is also from the Mobile area and I live near there.  He's seems to be a class act.

For the Steelers, I'm serving Kielbasa on a hoagie bun with grilled onions and green peppers with lots of mustard.
